17/10/2019

Martin Dillon has announced that he is to retire as Chief Executive of Belfast Trust at the end of December 2019 and the Trust will now begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive.

Martin Dillon said, ‘It is with very mixed emotions that I have decided to retire later this year. I have worked for Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland for 34 years and by the time I retire, I will have had the privilege of being Chief Executive of Belfast Trust for the last three of those years. I have met some incredible people along the way and I am proud to have served in our great Health Service. Overwhelmingly our fantastic staff get it right first time, every time and I have had the honour to work with some of the most talented and committed people currently working in the health sector and I wish every one of them well for the future.’

The Chairman of the Trust, Peter McNaney CBE, said, ‘Martin has been a tremendous asset to this organisation. He embodies health service values, he has worked diligently to ensure our patients, and clients have received the best possible care. And when they haven’t, his absolute sense of responsibility and accountability has demonstrated an unbending resolve to put things right. On behalf of Trust Board I thank him for his dedication and unwavering commitment to the people we serve and he leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes.’
