Adoption

The Domestic Adoption Team, working with other Family & Child Care staff, is responsible for counselling birth parents about adoption and finding adoptive parents for children who, for whatever reason, cannot live with their birth families.  The service includes:

  • counselling
  • preparation and training
  • assessment of prospective adopters
  • preparation and placement of children for adoption
  • maintaining links with birth relatives
  • training and support for adoptive families 

 

The Intercountry Adoption Team provides a service to prospective adopters living in Belfast and the South Eastern Trust area who wish to adopt from abroad.  The service includes:

  • counselling
  • preparation and training
  • completion of assessments
  • liaising with the Department of Health, Social Services
    and Public Safety
  • supporting placements

 

The Post Adoption Team provides information and support to adopted adults and their birth relatives who are living in Belfast and the South Eastern Trust area.
