Chaplaincy Service
The chaplaincy team consists of 5 full and 26 part-time chaplains, supported by the Trust, and 14 honorary chaplains supported by their Church or Order, drawn from the main Christian denominations, to be available to patients, families and staff. There are also a small number of volunteer visitors who work under the supervision of the Chaplains. The Methodist Chaplains have pastoral responsibility for people of other Christian denominations (apart from Catholic, Church of Ireland & Presbyterian) and people of Other Faiths.
Chaplains visit wards regularly and have time to listen and reflect. They are interested in people’s journey and seek to support the hospital community by their presence and prayers. The service we offer is confidential and non-judgmental and is available to everyone, irrespective of faith or background.
Chaplains are also available to:
- Offer Christian prayer and sacramental ministry
- Make contact with patients’ own faith communities if requested
- Offer regular times of worship on the hospital sites
- Support staff and students in their work
