Paediatric Endocrinology

The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children is the regional specialist centre for endocrine conditions. The service treats children with a number of different hormone conditions.

These include:

  • Pituitary conditions (e.g. Septo-Optic Dysplasia)
  • Adrenal conditions (e.g. congenital adrenal hyperplasia)
  • Growth problems (short and tall stature)
  • Thyroid problems
  • Advanced and delayed puberty
  • Calcium and bone metabolism
  • Endocrine late effects following oncological conditions
  • Syndromes with an endocrine component
  • Disorders of sexual development
  • Gender Identity Dysphoria
