Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare Service

The Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Service provides walk-in clinics where women and men can receive information and advice on all aspects of contraception and sexual health. These clinics are held at a number of convenient locations, and at various times during the day.

This page contains details of our Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Service. If you are looking for information about our sexual health clinics that provide testing for STIs, please go to our GUM clinic page.

Services provided by this team include:

  • Availability of all methods of contraception, including oral emergency contraception

  • Chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing

  • Appointment-based hospital clinics providing intrauterine device fitting, ie. copper coils and mirena systems

Currently the Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Service operates across the Belfast and South Eastern Trust areas.

The majority of our community clinics are open access, so no appointment is needed. In these clinics, all men and women are seen and individually assessed by a Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare trained member of staff, and may be offered appropriate counseling, treatment or tests. Once this initial assessment has taken place, you may be referred directly to a hospital clinic if required.

All Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare clinics are closed on bank holidays. During holiday periods, clinics may operate with reduced staff.

Sometimes, due to a high volume of patients, our clinics may close earlier than stated on our schedule. It is advisable to contact the clinic before you attend.
