In spite of the recent difficulties with water supply across Northern Ireland, Belfast Trust continues to maintain all hospital services at this busy time of year.

At no time was the Royal Victoria Hospital without a mains supply of water, and there is no cause for concern. We provided some bottled water for a short time as a precaution as part of our contingency arrangements and are working closely with Northern Ireland Water to ensure a constant supply.

Belfast City Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital both have bore holes which help enormously with water supplies to those sites.

Dealing with the challenges in the community, Belfast Trust Emergency Duty Team is continuing to support people with complex needs through the various emergencies that have arisen.

Chief Executive Colm Donaghy paid tribute to all staff in the Trust for their dedication and commitment to provide health and social care throughout the holiday period. “Whether dealing with the snow, freezing temperatures, or the water issues many hundreds of our staff went to extraordinary lengths to get to work. We are particularly indebted to our Estates staff, who have worked day and night to keep services running”.
