Christmas in the Cancer Centre!

The Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital is shining brightly this Christmas with the switching on of the Christmas tree and the launch of Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Wish Upon a Star appeal.

Friends of the Cancer Centre, in partnership with the Belfast Trust, Helm Housing, Morris Flynn and Son and LM Services, unveiled a new Christmas tree outside the Cancer Centre for the very first time.

Inside the Wish Upon a Star appeal sees Christmas trees lit up with hundreds of stars, each dedicated to someone special this Christmas. For a donation of £5, people are invited to write their own personal wish, message or name of a loved one affected by cancer and hang it on the hospital’s tree.

This year Friends of the Cancer Centre is also offering anyone who can’t make it to the Cancer Centre the opportunity to make a wish online by dedicating a star on the charity’s virtual Christmas tree by visiting

Everyone who makes a wish will be given their very own star to hang on their tree at home, keeping that special someone close at this time of year.
