Mullan Mews Celebrates its 10th year Anniversary

11/12/2015

Mullan Mews is a Supported Housing scheme specifically designed to meet the needs of people living with dementia. The Scheme was developed in partnership with the Trust and Clanmil Housing Association.

The model promotes a strength based, enabling approach which supports individuals remain at home within their community for longer.

Proceeding the development of supporting housing schemes such as Mullan Mews, many older people with dementia lived in institutional settings behind locked doors. Belfast Trust's aim is to provide high quality specialised housing combined with skilled support and social care in order to improve the quality of life and the lived experience of people with dementia. The ethos of supported housing is to maintain independence, promoting health and well-being and facilitating and maintaining positive social inclusion in the community. Tenants living in Mullan Mews enjoy active, meaningful lives and are valued for their contributions to society. The evening provided an opportunity for tenants, families, friends and staff to celebrate the schemes success since opening its doors in 2005.

Mullan Mews in partnership with Clanmil celebrated a number of Awards Won over the years.

The evening was a great success and a big thank you to the tenants, family, friends, and staff, who joined in the celebrations and for their continued support.
