Sir Ian Botham opens new bed at Children's Hospital

A huge thank you to Sir Ian Botham and the Belfast Solicitors' Association who visited the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children to officially open a new Giraffe Omnibed.

Sir Ian and the Association donated over £30,000 to the Helping Hands foundation to purchase the specialist bed - which doubles as an isolation unit - for the Paediatric ICU ward.

The Association ran a number of fundraising events to collect the sum. One was a Coast to Coast challenge involving four of their members and entailed, running, cycling and swimming across Scotland.

It was through this event the group made contact with Sir Ian Botham, who subsequently made a donation of £10,000 through the Beefy Foundation.

Belfast Trust sends a huge thank you to the Belfast Solicitors Association and Sir Ian Botham for this generous donation, which has enabled us to purchase this vital piece of equipment for the hospital.
