Belfast Trust Staff Orchestra debuts at Culture Night Belfast - 16 September

Belfast Trust Staff Orchestra makes its debut this Friday, 16 September as part of Belfast Culture Night and you are all very welcome.

Following a survey in June over 60 staff responded to say they enjoy playing orchestral instruments in their free time, while others were delighted to have a reason to get back to playing after many years.

Now roof spaces have been raided, bassoons borrowed and abandoned instruments brought back into action.
Performing alongside Arts Care’s Orbit Dance, the orchestra will be in the safe hands of Colin Scott, a nurse from Outpatients in the City Hospital, who is also the conductor of the fabulous Belfast Pops Orchestra.
If you are heading to Culture Night Belfast the orchestra will be at Cotton Court on Waring Street (directly in front of the Merchant Hotel) from 6:30-7:00pm.
“We may not yet be in contention for any major awards just yet but who knows it could be the start of something!,” says Belfast Trust Arts in Health Manager and orchestra violinist, Paula McHugh.
“We hope that the orchestra will raise awareness of the benefits of music within healthcare settings and support the development of a programme of music activities across the Trust for the benefit of both staff and service users.”
