Donation of 100 wool blankets

The staff in Valencia Ward at Knockbracken Healthcare Park have worked in partnership with the owner of Bangor Wool Shop, Andrew McQueen, staff member, Pauline Poots, and their volunteers, who have knitted and donated 100 activity blankets to the Dementia in-patient and outreach service.

These sensory blankets will be used to engage and bring comfort to patients who are experiencing distressing behaviours as a result of their dementia. These will be used to benefitĀ  patients in the Dementia Inpatient assessment ward in Knockbracken Healthcare Park and will extend into nursing and residential homes in the community by staff in the Dementia Outreach Team.

The Ward Manager of Valencia, Donna Matson, would like to thank Andrew McQueen, Pauline Poots and all the volunteers who gave up their time to produce the activity blankets.
