Erskine House Tree named Tree of the Year

The Erskine House Tree, located at Belfast City Hospital / Queen’s University Belfast, has been crowned Northern Ireland’s Tree of the Year by the Woodland Trust. The annual competition saw six trees across Northern Ireland compete for public favour, with the Erskine House Tree securing 1,732 votes.

National Stammering Awareness day 2017

To celebrate National Stammering Awareness day on Sunday 22nd October 2017, Speech and Language Therapists throughout Northern Ireland alongside the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy Clinical Excellence Network organised a choir made up of around 50 service users, families, friends, Speech and Language Therapists and Music Therapists who sang in Victoria Square, Belfast.

Theatre Building Works

Belfast HSC Trust is increasing the number of operating theatres at Belfast City Hospital. A new prefabricated modular theatre is being delivered and constructed on site from Monday 23rd October until Wednesday 25th October. There will be disruption throughout the City Hospital site during this period and we would ask the public to bear with us while we carry out this important piece of work. Today at a public Trust Board meeting, Belfast Trust stood down all but one of its major draft savings proposals that, if implemented, would have impacted on the Trust's ability to deliver certain services for the rest of the financial year.

New Co-ordinated Falls Service Launched in Belfast

The Community Falls Prevention and Management Service was launched in Belfast on October 9th at Girdwood Community Hub. The initiative aims to reduce the risk of falls amongst frail elderly people and to enable older patients to remain at home after a fall, rather than be admitted to hospital.

On 24 August 2017 Belfast Health and Social Care Trust approved for public consultation a document setting out how the Trust would propose to meet its share (£26m) of £70m cash savings required of Trusts in 2017/18 as part of the Health and Social Care’s overall financial plan to live within its budget.

Belfast Trust is supporting free workshops for Voluntary & Community Groups to increase awareness about the nature and dynamics of domestic and sexual violence and abuse during February and March.
