The Mater Chapel - Restored and Renewed

The official re-opening of the Mater Hospital Chapel took place recently, with a Service of Thanksgiving and Blessing conducted by the Chaplains of the Mater Hospital and the blessing given by representatives of the Church of Ireland, Methodist, Presbyterian and Roman Catholic Churches.

Speaking at the event Chairman Peter McNaney, CBE said that the Trust ‘recognises that religious and spiritual care is an integral aspect of health and social care.  Total care includes care for the physical, social, psychological and spiritual dimensions of the person.  As part of our commitment to the holistic care of people within the Mater Hospital, it is fitting to have such a magnificent and beautiful Chapel that it available to all to use’.

He also paid tribute to all those involved in the planning of the re-opening of the chapel and commended the chaplaincy service in the Mater and the wider Trust for their commitment and care to the hospital community.

The Cavehill Community Choir accompanied by the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra provided music at the service.

Mass will be celebrated every Sunday morning in the Mater Chapel at 8.10am.

Everyone is welcome.
