Lord Mayor officially opens Ballymisert

On Friday 7th July 2017, Belfast Trust held the official opening ceremony for Ballymisert. The scheme is a Supported Housing Facility that provides independent apartments for people who have experienced mental health challenges in their lives.

The Lady Mayor of Belfast, Nuala McAllister had the honour of ‘cutting the ribbon’ and joined the team for a cup of tea and a fabulous spread put together by tenants and staff of the scheme. It was a proud moment for everyone involved.

The scheme was achieved through the partnership of Belfast Trust, Inspire Mental Health, Triangle Housing Association and Supporting People (Housing Executive) and was a purpose built facility consisting of four apartment blocks.

Last year it was the Social Housing Scheme of the Year award at the 2016 Construction Excellence Awards.

Ballymisert has been successfully up and running for a year now and we see it as a major improvement for people, both in meeting their support needs and environmentally, a model for future developments. A big thank you goes out from both Belfast Trust and the people now living at the schemes to all our partners involved in making such a difference to their lives.
