In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government restriction of movements and to protect patients, their families and all our staff, Health and Social Care is temporarily restricting the number of visitors across hospitals.

Belfast Trust and the wider HSC sector continues to examine all options as we adapt to the challenges posed by the outbreak of Covid-19. To ensure we can effectively protect the safety of our patients and staff we have designated the Mater as the Belfast Trust Covid-19 Hospital.

Helipad ready for test landings

The final phase of a fully operational Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for Northern Ireland has been completed with the opening of the helipad at the Royal Victoria Hospital. The first test landing took place at 08:30 on Tuesday 18 February.
