Induction Process Information for Trainee Doctors

All trainees in the Belfast Trust must ensure that they are to up to date with all Mandatory Training.

1. Trust Induction

Attendance at Trust induction on Wednesday 3 August 2016 is MANDATORY for all trainees who have not attended a BHSCT induction in the last 2 years.

ALL trainees MUST attend the Departmental Induction provided in the relevant department.

Additional Induction and Educational Resources are available on the Medical Education Section of the Trust intranet, under Education and Development and trainees should check this site regularly.

It is the responsibility of all doctors to ensure that they practice within the guidance of “Good Medical Practice “ published by the GMC and this includes the requirement to be up to date with relevant Trust policies and Guidelines, especially those relating to patient safety.

2. Training Tracker (Dental Trainees do not need to complete Training Tracker)

This is the Regional web based induction programme and ALL trainees are required to complete all the MANDATORY modules before the end of August 2016.

Currently Certificates of Completion are valid for 5 years so modules completed in any NI Trust during this time period are valid. However, please check the site as additional modules may be added.

You will be given link details to Training Tracker by e-mail at least 2 weeks before commencement date.

3. Hyponatraemia

Trainees will be required to show either evidence of completion of the BMJ Learning Module on Hyponatraemia or of a discussion with their Education Supervisor that this is not required due to the nature of their work.

4. Right Patient Right Blood Training

All trainees who are involved in any aspect of blood sampling and transfusion are required to maintain an up to date certificate of completion of the relevant training and competency assessment.

If the Education Supervisor agrees that a trainee will never be involved with any aspect of blood sampling and transfusion, they can complete a permanent Desist notice.
