Landmarks of Home

A kind welcome was provided by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Arder Carson, to the ‘Landmarks of Home’ Art Feature at Belfast City Hall.

Inspired by the Northern Irish landscape, this textile piece was conceived by Arts Care Artists at the Belfast Trust, Musgrave Park Hospital.

This vibrant artwork has already had a tremendous impact on those who have helped in its creation, including patients. It is hoped that it will continue to give joy to Belfast Trust service users at Musgrave Park Hospital where it will soon be displayed in its permanent position at Outpatients Reception.

Together they have created an uplifting image of our surrounding lands that visitors to Musgrave Park Hospital can relate to with recognizable landmarks and features of Belfast and Northern Ireland.

The piece measures 3 meters square and it took almost 9 months to complete. Most of the fabrics used in its creation have been hand-felted and embellished with threads beads and buttons. It is fitting that it should hang here at City Hall since it features so prominently in the piece.

The Musgrave Hospital Art’s Care team, invite you to come and have a look at the textile piece in the reception of Belfast City Hall over the next week.
