Annual Summer Scheme

Provided at 3 venues across the Trust the scheme accommodates over 300 children during the summer months. It operates Monday to Friday 7.45 am to 5.45/6.00 pm. during July and August and is open to all Trust employee’s children aged between 5 and 14 years.


Chaplaincy and Places of Worship

The chaplaincy team consisting of 5 full and 26 part-time chaplains provide support and pastoral care, not only for patients but also for staff. Working in a healthcare environment can be difficult at times for staff, and the chaplains are available to offer spiritual, religious and pastoral help and support to anyone who want it.
Places of worship or quiet rooms are available on all the main hospital sites

Childcare Vouchers

Childcare vouchers are available to all Trust staff and are a way of paying for registered childcare. Vouchers up to a value of £55 per week are exempt from Tax and National Insurance Contributions so offer potential savings for working parents who use them to pay for registered childcare.


Counselling

A range of counselling services are available to help you through any difficulties that may be affecting your working life among them are:

  • Staff Care - A free and confidential counselling service is available for all our staff through StaffCare Services.
  • Domestic Abuse Support Service - Recognising that home and work issues cannot always be separated and domestic abuse or violence can impact greatly on the working life of someone who is being abused, the Trust provides a free and confidential Domestic Abuse Support Service for Staff.

Healthcare Services

All Trust employees have access to the confidential and impartial services of a team of occupational health professionals made up of medical, nursing, clinical psychology, physiotherapy and administrative staff.

The service is committed to promoting the health and wellbeing of all employees and offers a wide range of services including pre-employment screening, health surveillance, provision of immunisations and vaccinations, sickness absence assessments and rehabilitation programmes.


Pension Scheme

The HSC pension scheme is an important and valuable benefit. Membership is voluntary, but as a member of the scheme you get an excellent package of benefits, protected against inflation and guaranteed by the Government.


Shuttle Bus Service

A regular free staff shuttle bus service operates between the main hospital and office locations across the Trust.

Staff Services is an optional membership available to all staff which allows you to avail of special discount rates and promotions


Improving Working Lives

Work Life Balance -Flexible Working

The Trust offers flexible working conditions, enabling you to meet different priorities and interests at different stages in your career. A range of 8 Work Life Balance Flexible Working Arrangements is available for staff to enable them to better manage their work life balance.

Special Leave

We offer special leave for caring, paternity, adoption, bereavement and public service. Many of the Trusts special leave provisions go further than legislative requirements and all staff, not just those with parental responsibilities are eligible to apply.

Workforce Health

The Trust is currently developing a programme to Improve Workforce Health and in particular develop strategies to address mental health issues.

Cycle to Work

In a step to combat pollution and to encourage a healthier lifestyle the Trust runs a Cycle to Work Scheme. This scheme allows any member of staff to sacrifice part of their salary in return for a bicycle and safety equipment purchased at a cost significantly lower than the normal retail price.
