Top Safety Representative Award

Norman Gray, a NIPSA health and safety representative with Belfast Trust, was recently named as the winner of the Health and Safety Representative’s Award for 2012.

The award is presented by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) to recognise the contribution made by health and safety representatives to the safety of employees in the workplace.

Norman was presented with his award at a seminar organised by the Northern Ireland Committee of the ICTU at UNISON headquarters in Belfast.

At the presentation, Chairman of HSENI George Lucas congratulated Norman on his achievement and praised the level of commitment and professionalism shown by all the candidates. He said:  “Congratulations to Norman on winning the 2012 award and for his dedication to improving the health and safety of his work colleagues. This involved initiating valuable security measures for staff at the main reception areas of health and wellbeing centres within the Belfast Trust. Norman represents the very best qualities required to be an outstanding health and safety representative.”

Peter Bunting Assistant General Secretary of the ICTU said: “Well done Norman on winning your most deserved award. On behalf of Northern Ireland’s trade union movement I applaud all health and safety representatives like you who help make our workplaces safe for all workers.”
