'Thank you' to Trust Volunteers

07/06/2011

Belfast City Hall hosted a special event to honour the many volunteers who offer up their time, energy and commitment volunteering in Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

2011 is the European Year of Volunteering, and Volunteers Week which runs from 1-7 June is an opportunity to acknowledge the difference our volunteers have made in the different ways they serve the community and help enrich the lives of many.

Pat McCartan, Trust Chairman paid a sincere thank you to all of the volunteers who selflessly contribute to providing services and said they 'are essential in Health and Social Care'.

Volunteer Elizabeth Dowey received the Deborah Hutton Award from Macmillan Cancer Support. The award recognises volunteers who make an exceptional contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support's work to improve the lives of people affected by cancer, and Elizabeth is the only person in Northern Ireland to receive this particular award this year.
