During your consultation you have the right to be treated courteously with respect for your privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs. You are entitled to be accompanied by a member of your family or a friend during your outpatient visit. You are entitled to know the name and grade of each person providing you with a service. There should be a wide range of health promotion leaflets on display. Medical and nursing staff will be happy to help you if you want more information. Consent to treatmentOn some occasions we may need to carry out a minor surgical procedure while you are at the clinic. If so, we will ask for your written consent. Staff will explain the risks, benefits and any alternative treatments before asking you to sign the consent form. If you are unsure about any aspect of the treatment proposed, please ask to speak to a senior member of staff. Second opinionWe hope you will be happy with the care you receive. However, there may be times when you want to seek a second opinion from another professional, either at Belfast City Hospital or Belvoir Park Hospital. If so, you should go back to your GP to discuss being referred for a second opinion. |
