The Cancer Centre

The Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital

Services have transferred from Belvoir Park Hospital to the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital. The Cancer Centre is located on the site of the former Jubilee Maternity Hospital and has physical linkages to the BCH Tower Block at basement, ground floor and first floor levels.

Cancer Centre Slideshow

Amongst the facilities contained within the building are:

  • State-of-the-art Radiotherapy Suite, including eight linear accelerators.
  • Radiology Suite providing MRI, CT scanning, interventional radiology, ultrasound and general x-ray.
  • Outpatient Review Clinic, incorporating Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Social Work and Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Academic and research facilities including video conferencing
  • 84 inpatient beds, of which 50% are single bedded.

The Glenview Building

A Patient Bed and Breakfast accommodation has also been created on the BCH site, approx 300 metres from the Cancer Centre. It provides 29 bedrooms for patients from outlying areas who do not require inpatient admission.

Cancer Support and Information Centre

A new Cancer Support and Information Centre, is being built in Wilmot Terrace. Macmillan Cancer Relief will be raising over £1m for the project. Services on offer will include, a complete information library, financial advice, hairdressing, complementary therapies as well as psychology and counselling services. It is hoped that the Centre will be operational by June 2006.
