Controls Assurance

Controls Assurance enables HPSS organisations to provide evidence that they are doing their reasonable best to manage themselves, meet their objectives and protect patients, staff, the public and other stakeholders against risks of all kinds.

It is a means by which the Chief Executive as an Accountable Officer can discharge her responsibilities and provide assurances to the Department, the Assembly and the public.

Controls assurance includes the following:

  • Risk management: standards and criteria covering the key requirements of a system that should be in place to manage risk
  • Financial controls: standards and criteria covering requirements for managing risk associated with financial resources
  • Organisational controls: standards and criteria covering key areas of organisation risk
  • Clinical and social care controls: standards and criteria for managing risk associated with clinical and social care processes

Within the four key modules there are 21 Controls Assurance Standards:

A baseline assessment has been undertaken to assess the systems and processes in relation to Controls Assurance within Green Park Healthcare Trust. The objective of the baseline assessment is to test that Green Park Healthcare Trust has a comprehensive framework of Controls Assurance Standards, which are adequately evidenced. To identify gaps in the evidence, agree an action plan and to fill those gaps identified.

The Trust has prepared documentation for each of the 21 standards containing evidence that each criterion has been satisfied.
