The Limb Fitting CentreThe Limb Fitting Centre provides a Regional Service to approximately 1700 active artificial limb users across Northern Ireland. Following amputation surgery, patients are referred to the Limb Fitting Centre at Musgrave Park Hospital for assessment for an artificial limb. Assessment is undertaken by a Multi-Disciplinary Team led by a Consultant. Patients are assessed by a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, and Dietician, and where necessary the patient will receive special psychological advice. If suitable, the patient will be seen by a Prosthetist at the Centre who will undertake manufacturing of a limb. Inpatient facilities are provided in Ward 3A, Withers Orthopaedic Centre at Musgrave Park Hospital. The majority of patients attend as an inpatient for a period of gait (walking) training under the supervision of Physiotherapists in the Limb Fitting Centre. The Limb Fitting Centre also provides a pre-amputation counselling service. Facilities:Services:Limb Fitting Centre newsletter: Prosthetic Users Forum Northern Ireland Activity:Contact Details: |
