Wheelchair Assessments
Assessments for wheelchairs and associated equipment are performed at wheelchair clinics in RDS. Wheelchair demonstration and home support is also provided by a team of wheelchair Technical Officers who can visit users in their own environment.
Wheelchair Provision
There are three categories of wheelchairs issued by the Wheelchair Service:
Level 1:
Standard wheelchairs which are stored on the premises of the Approved Repairer.
Level 2:
Wheelchairs which are prescribed and obtained direct from a manufacturer.
Level 3:
Wheelchairs with specialist seating requirements.
The Wheelchair Service provides electrically powered indoor and outdoor wheelchairs (EPIOCs) as part of a Department of Health initiative.
