Route 10, and 82 stops close to the pedestrian entrance on the Falls Road
Route 81 stops at the Grosvenor Road Entrance to the main Royal site. (10-15mins walk to the Children’s Hospital.
A special Royal Hospitals bus (route 95) leaves from Donegall Square East at the side of the City Hall at 7.10am, 7.30am and every half hour after that, stopping at Howard Street and the Europa Bus centre in Great Victoria Street
If you live outside the Belfast area, you may choose to travel into the city by rail. There is no train station near the Royal Hospitals, however it is possible to catch a connecting Metro bus (95) at the Europa bus station which is beside Great Victoria Street railway station.
If arriving by car please use the visitors car park at the Children’s Hospital. When you reach the Royal site, please follow the Children’s Hospital signs which will direct you to this carpark. As you approach the Children’s Hospital, you will see that the hospital and the carpark are on two different levels. You can drop off passengers at the front door of the hospital before parking your car in the carpark. When you reach the Children’s carpark you will see that access to the hospital is via steps or the pedestrian footpath. A lift from the lower level into the hospital operates between 8am and 5pm.
What happens if I have a disabled passenger or if I am disabled myself?
There are 8 disabled spaces on the upper level near to the main entrance of the Children’s Hospital with a further 34 disabled spaces on the lower level (underneath the concrete apron which provides shelter during wet weather).
How much do I pay for parking?
A small charge is made for car parking throughout the Royal site which you will need to pay at the kiosk or pay machines BEFORE you return to your car. Please remember to bring some change for this. The pay station is located near the steps of each car park.
Patients with specific acute conditions, who are required to attend the hospital on a regular basis, shall, during their period of tretment be entitled to free parking on site. Car parking passes are available at Ward level, however only one voucher can be given per family. Please feel free to ask nursing staff if you are entitled to free car parking in line with the eligibility criteria as per the link below.
Please be advised that queues of traffic often build up within the Royal Hospitals site especially prior to clinics. Therefore it is important to give yourself ample parking time.
