Belfast Trust is embarking on formal consultation on the proposed location of a single new, purpose built, acute mental health inpatient facility for Belfast. The Trust believes that the new unit which will eventually replace existing units at Knockbracken, the Mater and the City hospital sites, would be best placed in the grounds of the Belfast City Hospital, near to transport links for patients, their families, visitors and carers. Read the consultation document now Bernie McNally, Director of Mental Health and Learning Disability said, “Our current facilities need to be updated and it has already been agreed, through consultation, that we should have a single acute inpatient unit backed by more community home treatment. We think the City Hospital site best suits the needs of our patients and those who support them and we want to hear the widest possible range of views on this.” A copy of the full document is available on our website www.belfasttrust.hscni.net. Comments should be sent before Monday 8 March 2010. Responses should be sent to publicliaison@belfasttrust.hscni.net |
