Obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatologyThe Royal Jubilee Maternity service is the regional referral centre for women with complications in their pregnancy but also provides a full range of facilities for women who wish to have natural childbirth. The integrated maternity service provides women with a range of choices from home confinements to domino delivery and hospital based care. The Royal Maternity Hospital is the first hospital in Northern Ireland to be recognised by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as a fetal medicine sub-specialisation centre. Already a recognised centre for the Diploma in Ultrasound in Obstetrics, the directorate has an unrivalled range of sub-specialty expertise in reproductive medicine, oncology and fetal medicine. It has a dedicated urodynamic clinic. Access to other specialist services includes: • paediatric neurology • neonatal radiology • paediatric cardiology • paediatric surgery • cardiac surgery • neurosurgery • ophthalmology (including regional services for cryotherapy and laser • therapy) • medical genetics • paediatric nephrology • orthopaedics • plastic surgery Specialist clinics include: • prenatal diagnosis and genetics • high risk pregnancy • biophysical assessment • early pregnancy ultrasound • infertility • In-vitro Fertilisation • colposcopy • laser and lletz • urodynamics Keeping pace with modern trends, research work is taking place in areas such as reproductive medicine, hormone replacement therapy, fetal medicine. |
