Who is involved?
South and East Belfast Trust provides a comprehensive range of residential day care and home based services for elderly people and has been in the forefront of developing services which enable elderly people to have a choice either to remain in their own homes or attractive alternatives in housing options which afford maximum independence and privacy.

BIH Housing is one of Northern Ireland's

What is supported housing?
This unique intensively supported housing scheme provides an environment where elderly people achieve maximum independence, privacy and dignity while at the same time receiving the care and safety they need.
Philosophy
In Fairholme tenants are treated with respect and dignity and valued as unique individuals. They are supported in a way that enables them to experience a good quality life.
Tenants are enabled to exercise control over their own life and to make decisions about the care and support that they need, this involves managing their own personal and financial affairs without interference.
What is the accommodation like?
Each private flatlet consists of a bedroom, and ensuite shower, WC and wash-hand basin and is decorated, carpeted and curtained to the highest standard. Storage facilities,safe and wardrobe are built in.
Two lounges and several comfortable chat areas are available within the building overlooking landscaped gardens. There are six small kitchens scattered throughout the building with cooking facilities. A lift, activities room, hairdressing salon and assisted bathrooms.
What level and type of care is available?
Fairholme is designed to cater for the needs of elderly people and 24 hour support is available to the extent each individual requires. It offers opportunity for tenants to carry on everyday tasks such as perrsonal laundry, cleaning their own personal flat and making light refreshments and meals. All these tasks are carried out in the knowldge that support is always on hand if needed. South and East Belfast Trust provides highly trained management staff and support workers to deliver the best service possible.
Additional care can be made for individual tenants if required during times of illness or increased frailty. A programme of social, recreational and therapeutic activities will be available through the active involvement of tenants, staff, relatives, friends and community groups.

How is application made for Fairholme?
Application can be made through a care manager or social worker. Applications must also be made to Housing Executive.
