Health Visiting Service

		Service Provided Health visitors work with parents, carers and their children to promote their health and development. By providing health promotion and health education, parents are able to make decisions regarding their children. Health Visiting offers developmental assessments at key stages to assess whether there are any additional supports a child or family may need. They offer childhood immunizations to pre-school children against a range of childhood diseases. Health Visitors work alongside other professions including paediatricians, social workers and Sure Start, to make sure that families are supported in the best possible way.
Accessing the Service: All children born in Northern Ireland are automatically placed on the Child Health System which ensures that you are provided with a Health Visitor. Anyone who comes into Northern Ireland can make themselves known to our service either by directly contacting a health visitor on the number below, or through a GP or school nurse.
Who can access this Service: All pre-school children will automatically receive a health visiting service. Any school aged children with identified health care needs (for example in relation to behaviour, soiling, wetting or child protection) will continue to have a service from a health visitor in addition to the school nursing service. Any specific clinics offered by health visiting have individual referral criteria and can be contacted directly.
