Trauma & Orthopaedics

The Trauma & Orthopaedic service provides a range of local and regional services looking after patients with injuries and conditions that affect the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

Each year we carry out approximately 3400 emergency procedures (Trauma) and 8000 elective procedures at our two centres in the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park hospital, along with Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the Children's Hospital. We also have a wide range of outpatient services to support patients throughout Northern Ireland, providing approximately 38,000 Orthopaedic and 35,000 Trauma outpatient appointments each year.
