Mental Health and Deafness Service (NI)

Northern Ireland Mental Health & Deafness Service provides assessment and care for profoundly Deaf adults with complex Mental Health needs. We work across all adult programmes including Learning Disability, Older Adults etc. We provide regional outreach clinics, home visits and liaison. We also offer consultation and training to colleagues working with Deaf clients. Deaf signers with Mental Health difficulties are our core group but the service also sees anyone referred whose deafness is significant to them.

The service is also involved in promoting access to all Mental Health Services for our clients and in the strategic development of services for our client group. We work closely in partnership with fellow NHS professionals and non-statutory organisations.

How to Access the Service

The service is normally accessed by letter to the team from a helath service professional.
