Regional Fertility Centre
The Regional Fertility Centre (RFC) offers a comprehensive fertility service including full investigation of male and female fertility problems.
Treatments provided include:
- Ovulation induction
- Stimulated Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI)
- In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
- Egg, Sperm and Embryo Donation.
In addition the RFC offers long term sperm storage for male cancer patients.
The RFC is licensed and regulated by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) in accordance with the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Act.
How to access this service
Patients are referred to the RFC by their GP or a hospital consultant. A new appointment is usually issued within 9 weeks of receiving the referral letter.
Those meeting the criteria for NHS funding are entitled to one cycle of assisted conception treatment.
Self funded treatment is also available.
NHS Eligibility Criteria for assisted conception treatment (IVF, ICSI and FET):
- There must be a medical cause of infertility
- The female patient must be under 40 years of age when they reach the top of the waiting list and start their treatment and
- They have had no more than three unsuccessful treatments (including frozen embryo transfer).
